Owen Burrows' six-year-old becomes first horse to win the Group Three feature twice on Merseyside and will return to the top level on his next start
Anmaat returned to action and became the first horse to win the Betfred Rose Of Lancaster Stakes for a second time at Haydock Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Shadwell Estate-owned star had won the Group One Prix d’Ispahan at ParisLongchamp at the end of May on his most recent start and a return to the top level later this season beckons in either the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown next month or the Champions Stakes at Ascot on Champion Day in October.
"The Saturday before the Eclipse last year he did the best bit of work I'd seen him do and he's not a horse who overdoes it at home, he's quite laid back about life. Then the next morning we found him lame so it wasn't meant to be. It was a complex foot injury and all the team has done a great job to get him back. It's been a huge team effort by everybody. I've been pleased with him at home, but whatever he did today he will take a huge step forward from.
