Anna Williamson and Luisa Zissman bravely share their postpartum depression battles
Anna Williamson and Luisa Zissman have opened up on their individual experiences with postpartum depression in a powerful chat with OK! magazine about Boots' Taboo Talk podcast's third season, which launched on 27 July.
"I would go from zero to 100 with my mood swings," she explained. "I was incredibly irrational, mentally unstable throughout that pregnancy, which then ramped up into birth and I had a terrible birth with Enzo". She then stopped breastfeeding her son as the stress over being the "only person that could feed this little boy" wasn't good for her.
Anna said she credits a mixture of medication, really good support and psychological therapy for helping her pull through that "horrible phase of postpartum depression", which she said she "wouldn't wish on my worst enemy". Luisa shares daughter Dixie with her ex Oliver Zissman, and daughters Indigo and Clementine with husband Andrew Collins.
Luisa, who recently shared she needs to get surgery after giving birth left her peeing non-stop, would make time for herself to find that spontaneity and independence she had prior to becoming a mum, which helped her get back to herself.
