Another 18 people have died with coronavirus in the UK, according to the latest statistics which confirmed a further 2,729 new cases on Thursday.‘within weeks’ and amid a continued easing of lockdown in line with the Government’s roadmap.
The latest figures mean that the country has now recorded 127,345 deaths and 4,398,431 infections since the pandemic began. Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show that there have been 151,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate. Meanwhile, the vaccination programme continues to be rolled out at pace, with nearly 120,000 first doses confirmed in the latest 24 hour period.Around 44.5 million vaccines have now been administered in total – with around three quarters being first doses.
The daily death toll has been gradually dropping in the UK since a second wave peak a couple of months ago That brings the country’s totals since the start of the pandemic to 7,646 deaths and 224,596 cases.Public Health Wales added that there was one new death, meaning 5,543 people are now confirmed to have died with the virus in the country since the outbreak began.There have been three further deaths of patients who previously tested positive for Covid-19 in Northern Ireland.
