BREAKING: Another 23,065 people test positive for coronavirus and 280 die
Another 280 people have lost their lives to coronavirus, while 23,065 people have tested positive, according to the latest government data.It brings the total number of deaths recorded within 28 days of a positive test to 45,955.The latest figures come amid reports London is on the verge of being placed under the harshest coronavirus restrictions after the R rate skyrocketed to as high as 2.9.
The rate of infection in the capital, thought to be the highest in the country, is believed to be doubling every three days.Boris Johnson faces increasing pressure to tighten lockdown measures across the whole of the country.More to follow
