High temperatures Wednesday will be 10 to 15 degrees below average, but a warm-up is coming, as well as storm chances.
The spring equinox happened on Tuesday, but it didn’t really feel like spring here in South Texas. Skies were overcast for the majority of the day, and temperatures topped out in the upper 50s and low 60s — about 15 degrees below average for the traditional first day of spring. The below-average temps are expected to stay with us on Wednesday, but a quick warm-up is expected to take place after that, and a few strong thunderstorms could rumble through South Texas.
As moisture levels increase, patchy dense fog also will become possible late, especially after 10 p.m. Storm chances As a system of low atmospheric pressure moves from the Desert Southwest eastward into Texas, the chances of strong or even severe storms will become possible overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning. However, any severe storms that develop are expected to be few and far between, and most of the rain will be light to moderate.
