Mercury soars into the 70s again on Friday.
Colleges have been on spring break, the cherry blossoms are about to bloom, and in the nation’s capital, Friday helped dismiss even the memory of winter by offering another day in the balmy and beguiling 70s.
It is true that they were the gray 70s in Washington on Friday, with the sun scarcely to be seen in a sky well stocked with dark hints of possible rain. But on Friday, neither those forecasts, nor the frequent sense of the imminence of rain, could easily dispel the sense of warm-weather ease seemingly felt in Washington, as the city settled into the workday rituals and patterns of thought associated with the recent start of daylight saving time.
