And Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly have both donated £2,500 to the fund in a kind gesture – although the two donations have been done anonymously.
Roycey himself confirmed the Geordies had donated to the fund, tweeting: ‘Thank you Ant for your generous donation for getting me well..Amazing @antanddec xxx.Ant, 43, no longer drinks after becoming dependent on alcohol after his split from Lisa Armstrong. This led to him being found guilty of drink driving after crashing into another car while more than twice the legal limit in March 2018.He told The Sun: ‘Life hit me hard. I was going through a lot of personal stuff that was very publicised. The problem is you take something or you drink to escape from an underlying unhappiness.’Simon Cowell and Robbie Williams said they would be donating to Roycey’s fund. According to the Mirror, former X Factor judge Robbie said: ‘‘I’m happy to pay for your rehab, consider it done.’ Meanwhile, Olly Murs – a former X Factor competitor and host – donated £2,000 to the fund, writing: ‘Roycey! Stay strong my friend! I’ll be seeing you soon! X.’ James Mace set up the fundraiser, explaining: ‘Our good friend Ian Royce is in desperate need of our help. Ian is an alcoholic and has taken his first steps by admitting so.
