Protesters walked out holding a huge yellow banner reading 'occupy our beaches'

Locals stormed a popular Majorca beach in protest of tourists as thousands of Brits flock there for their summer holiday.Locals are accusing tourism to be pricing them out of their homes and encouraging a culture of drunkenness.Several Spaniards stepped out on Balneario 6 in Playa de Palma representing a campaign group named Majorca Platja Tour. They wore swimsuits and walked out holding a huge yellow banner with the words, “Occupy our beaches.

In photos, a resident could be seen playing the bagpipes for noise while on the sandy beachfront. The group were supposedly targeting that particular area as it was known for the behaviour of its drunk tourists. While protesters were spreading their anti-tourist message, they took the time to speak to holidaymakers and explain their point of view while brandishing the purple, yellow and red flag of Majorca, the Daily Star reports.

"We are trying, for a moment, for a few hours, to remember that these sandbanks are the property of all Majorcans not just tourists, we can all enjoy them too. Many tourists understand this, it is easy to understand that the rent has doubled, that everything is full,” added another, finishing “They are understanding, it is not a criticism of them, it is a criticism of the tourism model.”
