Rolling into town
A film crew from a television show visited an antiques dealers’ warehouse that will be starring in one of the upcoming episodes.
Antique dealer, John Hing, who runs an antique section in Unit Three Hargreaves Street Mill with his wife, Daryl Hing, greeted former Coronation Street star, Ryan Thomas, and Antiques Road Trip presenter and antiques expert, Natasha Raskin Sharp, who were looking to buy an antique.John, who watches the show often, said: “They seemed really impressed when they walked in and they said they would visit us again.
John shares the building with 15 other antique dealers and says since opening the business at the mill in April he has come across fascinating items from Victorian woodworking tools to a chest of drawers from the Georgian period. Daryl and John buy a variety of items from antique dealers from all over the country such as furniture dating back to the 1960s and 1970s and silverware and silver vases.
“It’s surprising but really good to see the number of young people coming through the doors to shop for antiques. Around 10 years ago it was just older people shopping for antiques but more and more young people appreciate the quality of antique furniture.
