The sterling silver item was at the side of the road in a box marked 'free'

A schoolboy - thought to be Antiques Roadshow's "youngest ever guest" - was left speechless when he was told the value of a 'genie's lamp' he found at the side of the road. The schoolboy spotted the silver lamp whilst walking home from school and picked it up – but had no idea of the item's true worth.

He thought it was a teapot when he spotted it in a box by the roadside labelled 'free'. The youngster noticed that the item had a G on it, which is the first letter of his name and decided to take it home. He affectionately called it a genie lamp before revealing it had been his wish to be on television since he was five-years-old.

Giving her verdict on the value of it, she estimated that the pot could fetch between £200 to £300 at auction. The boy said: "Wow for something I found on the side of the road. That's amazing."
