A current patch of empty land in a Preston city centre street along with an ‘unsafe and hazadrous’ building could soon be a new apartment block and restaurant. Four Architects have lodged the plans on behalf of Ds and Co Developments for the redevelopment in Avenham Street., would see a new five to seven storey block with 41-serviced apartments. The ground floor would include a potential restaurant unit for let and be alongside Baker Street bar and across the road from Angelo’s and Stratos.
Currently the land stands empty apart from a building at 12-14 Avenham Street which the developers say has been classed as needing to be demolished. Previous proposals for the site saw an apartment and retail units scheme submitted in 2005 but then withdrawn the same year. A revised scheme was approved in 2007 but the site has remained vacant since.
