Mercedes-Benz has officially adopted Apptronik's Apollo humanoid robot for low-skill tasks and manual labor on its assembly lines.

Mercedes-Benz has officially employed humanoid robots to complete manual tasks on its assembly line. Apptronik’s Apollo robot will complete simple tasks like fetching and carrying, helping lighten the load for its human colleagues., March 15, the robots will also be employed to complete other “low skill” tasks like basic assembly.

Apollo stands at 5 feet, 8 inches , can light around 55 pounds , and weighs in at 160 pounds . It can operate for about four hours on a single battery pack.with two arms and legs and “eye” sensors. The robot also has a screen on its chest that displays various kinds of information, including, it appears, company logos. The robot’s “face” is another LED screen that can display digitized “emotions” like a smiling face, icons, or information like battery charge status.

“Additionally, Apollo’s computing power makes it possible for leading AI companies to solve use cases outside the ones that Apptronik will initially solve, similar to the iPhone concept: world-class, user-friendly hardware that comes with some pre-built applications and can add applications developed by third parties,”This could mean that Mercedes-Benz could utilize Apollo for inspecting vehicle parts, bringing parts to the assembly line for human workers to assemble, and delivering kitted...
