LABOUR’s shadow foreign secretary Emily Thornberry has been condemned after comparing the Liberal Democrats to the Taliban over their anti-Brexit stance.
The hardcore Remainer was accused of insulting the victims of the Afghan terror group and downplaying their actions by drawing the Taliban into a conversation about the UK’s departure from the EU. Jeremy Corbyn’s shadow cabinet minister said the Lib Dems “have gotten kind of Taliban” after party members backed leader Jo Swinson’s call to block Brexit if they won a majority in the next general election.
