By Monday, dry skies and warmer temps in store for the Bay Area
Keep the umbrellas handy, the National Weather Service says. Showers are expected to continue through Sunday night. The Bay Area isn’t done with rain yet. Residents can expect Saturday’s light rain to continue into Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
“We do still have some showers in the forecast, especially in the early part of the day and afternoon,” NWS meteorologist Brian Garcia said, adding that the skies should dry up by 8 or 9 p.m. Sunday. All told, a quarter-inch to a half-inch of rain is expected in the Bay Area this weekend, with higher amounts in the Santa Cruz Mountains and the other coastal ranges in the region.
A pattern of warm weather this week was broken by the arrival of cool winds Friday, leading to showers overnight and early Saturday. The Bay Area has not had a 10-day stretch without rain since before December, according to the NWS. The temperatures will stay cool on Sunday in the South Bay with temperatures predicted to reach a low of 47 in San Jose. The East Bay can expect similar, with a low of 48 in Oakland and 45 in Walnut Creek.That “roller-coaster of systems” is typical for this time of year, Garcia said. “We’ll get some warm days and get some wet days.
