And voters typically get more fired up closer to Election Day. Gallup said the 54% figure should rise closer to 65% by late October or early November.
“What really matters is the enthusiasm gap as you get closer to Election Day, when people are actually voting,” Oklahoma State University politics professor Gallup said voters with both parties are less enthusiastic now than they were at a similar time four years ago. There is a question, however, about whether young voters will participate. And McKee said that’s a concern for Biden., right? The most contentious election in American history, because it was the first transition of power from one party to another,” McKee said. “But I don't think they talked in, you know, apocalyptic terms.
“I don't think young people are scared like older people are scared and motivated by fear,” McKee said. “I don't get that sense. I think young people are sort of like, ‘What do these old geezers have for me? And I don't want to see them again. And sure enough, we got them again.’”“Base mobilization has never mattered as much as it does now, and that's because the swing vote has never been smaller,” McKee said.Strong partisans are a plurality of the American electorate.
