The new Lego version of the 'Wicked' trailer copies the original version, but in toy form.
The “Brickified” version of the trailer plays out exactly like the original, scene-by-scene, featuring the same dialogue and music with Ariana Grande as Glinda the Good Witch and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West — but the two are transformed into building blocks toy versions of themselves, as do the scenes around them.
The two characters then hold hands as they travel to the Emerald City together and meet Jeff Goldblum’s Wizard of Oz, during which the music in the trailer gradually shifts into Grande and the that aired for the first time during the 2024 Super Bowl broadcast in February. The second part of the Jon M. Chu-directed duology — which was based on Stephen Schwartz’s Broadway musical of the same name, which itself was inspired by Gregory Maguire’s novel — arrives in 2025.
