A large number of officers, a helicopter and dog unit raced to the scene in Blantyre after the alarm was raised at around 8pm on Wednesday.

Locals said "around 20 to 25 police vehicles" descended onto the scene and residents were "asked to stay indoors".The nature of the emergency is currently unclear but footage shared on social media showed the Police Scotland helicopter hovering over an area near the Asda store in the town. It's understood a dog unit has also been deployed to assist.
Local Facebook page Blantyre Telegraph said: "We've received many messages about a serious police incident prompting between 20 to 25 police vehicles attending the scene. Officers have closed access to parts of Logan Street, St Andrews Court and Church Street. Top news stories today Terminal One Youth Centre, a youth and community project run by young people, for ages 8 to 25yrs and based in the town's Logan Street posted on Facebook: "Please note that Terminal One is not part of the ongoing incident tonight. All our young people and staff are fine."
