Heerenveen were pasted and now Andries Noppert has told Brendan Rodgers what to expect on Tuesday night.
Raging Netherlands international Andries Noppert has sparked a major incident as he told his Heerenveen team-mates they weren't tough enough for Feyenoord.
The 29-year-old didn't spare anyone in the wake of Arne Slot's side romping to a 6-1 win as he scorched his own dressing room after Celtic's upcoming opponents wiped the floor with them on Saturday. The Premiership champions will face Feyenoord on Tuesday as they eye a signature result away from home against a side hitting form.
And Noppert – known for his forthright reaction to results – didnn't mince his words in the immediate aftermath of his side's spanking in the De Kuip. He said: "We don't have enough b******* in our team. I think we start this match very naively. If you go into the match with such an intention, you make it very easy for them. We have a number of boys, but that doesn't mean you can start like that.
And Slot is full of the beans after watching his Dutch champions get back to their best days before Brendan Rodgers and Co head to Rotterdam. And the smiling Dutchman revealed his rule on the beautiful game which he believes life ugly for his rivals. He said: “If you have the better players, and you know how to build up so well, and find the free man, then it is very difficult for the opponent to get into the match. We had a difficult start to the competition in terms of results, but not in terms of football. The football was already good, so it was only a matter of time before we turned that into goals and wins.”
