An arrest has been made after surveillance video captured two individuals viciously assaulting an elderly man on an escalator.
SAN ANTONIO – An arrest has been made after surveillance video captured two individuals viciously assaulting an elderly man on an escalator in the Dillard's store at North Star Mall back on January 27.
Daymein Garcia, 31, was arrested for serious bodily injury to the elderly on Monday. Garcia can be seen on video grabbing the 81-year-old victim and throwing him down an escalator. The victim suffered head injuries, a broken finger, lacerations and bruising on his ribs.Police said the incident stemmed from a confrontation inside a dressing room when the man went to go try on a sweater.
"He thought it was empty... a handicap changing room," said San Antonio Police Detective Rodney Franklin. The man went and found a different changing room to use and went about his business. The woman inside the changing room found her mother and another man, and the three allegedly tracked the older man down to the escalator. The male suspect is seen approaching the victim from behind and forcefully throwing him down the metal steps. Police say the impact caused the victim's head to strike the escalator.
