PSNI believes there may have been similar incidents in recent days
A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of fraud following an incident in Belfast City Centre where someone was allegedly tricked into handing over a sum of money.
Sergeant Rooney said: "Our officers observed a man hand over what appeared to be a large sum of cash to the couple, at a cashpoint in the Donegall Square East area. Sergeant Rooney continued: "We have reason to believe that there may have been a number of similar incidents recently, and as such would appeal to anyone who may have been asked to give cash to a person unknown to them in suspicious circumstances to contact police, quoting reference number 2164 0f 08/05/24.
