A huge protest took place around 2pm today, Saturday, January 28, where hundreds of people took to the streets in Seacroft as part of an EDL protest against the housing of illegal migrants up and down the country by the Conservative Government.

The protest has took place at the Britannia Hotel on the ring road near Tesco in Seacroft. A witness has reported a number of people marching along the ring road as part of the protest.A number of police officers were called to the protest and four arrests were made. The protest took place for around 40 minutes, says police.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police officers attended a protest near a hotel in Seacroft, Leeds, today which started at around 2pm and lasted about 40 minutes."West Yorkshire Police worked with partner agencies in advance to put appropriate plans in place for this event."
