An Arsenal fan has proven why Alejandro Garnacho was adjudged offside for Manchester United during their Premier League clash against the Gunners.
But VAR checked the goal, with Garnacho deemed to be marginally offside when Rashford's pass was played.fan has analysed the offside decision - and explained why the decision made was the correct one.In the video, the fan lines up a solid orange line - similar to the one used VAR - with the pitch markings in order to create a straight angle.
From there, it is clearly visible how Arsenal defender Gabriel's head is behind the line, while part of Garnacho's head is in front of it. The current IFAB law deems it to be an offside offence if any part of a player's body that can score, i.e.: the head, body or feet, is ahead of the second last opponent.
The law reads:"A player is in an offside position if any part of the head, body or feet is in the opponents' half , and any part of the head, body or feet is nearer to the opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent."
