The trousers style of the summer are drawstring trousers and this pair from M&S are my favourite.
As someone who's 5'4", I've become incredibly fussy about my trousers. Because when Zara's trail on the floor and H&M doesn't offer its bottoms in different leg lengths, there's no choice but to be picky about.
And so, I've almost exclusively started shopping in Marks & Spencer for trousers, as it, rather refreshingly, offers a variety of leg lengths in almost every single one of its styles, including extra short, short, regular and long.. I'm not one to sit and think about my purchases before ripping the tags off, so by the afternoon, I'd already styled the white pair with a grey baby tee and flip flops for an afternoon out in the sun, and I was immediately impressed.
The trousers are available in two different colours, black and white , and feature a drawstring at the waistband, a trending curved barrel-leg shape , and an ankle-grazing length. As for leg length, short/petite is perfect for me, hitting that perfect spot on the ankle to show off a statement shoe or flip-flops.
Above everything, though, what actually sold the Drawstring Barrel Leg Ankle Grazer Trousers to me was their 100% pure cotton composition – a detail that means the trousers compete with the likes of COS and Zara, both of which often come at a higher price point than £30.somehow unflattering, I wasn't expecting to be quite so taken with this M&S pair. But, between the flattering barrel-leg shape and M&S's unrivalled range of lengths, it's managed to solve the very thing that usually puts me off trouser shopping in the first place.
