Asda has launched a new initiative, with shoppers set for huge discounts
Asda shoppers can now get a haul from the supermarket for less than half the price thanks to a new service being rolled out in stores. The retailer has joined forces with Too Good To Go, offering grocery products at a "fraction of the price", while also reducing food waste.
In a new update on Tuesday, October 15, Asda bosses confirmed the initiative is available across almost 1,000 UK sites, including its Asda supermarket and Asda Express stores. Customers will also be able to access the scheme at some food service sites within Asda stores, such as LEON, Greggs, Sbarro and Subway.
Asda said shoppers can purchase a "Surprise Bag" for £3.30, and are guaranteed to receive at least £9 worth of products inside. The Surprise Bags, Asda said, "contain good food, which is nearing its use-by date, and each purchase helps to avoid food waste" and could include "prepared fruit or salads, chilled items, ready meals, food to go, bakery products, and/or dairy, meat, fish or poultry products.
The Too Good To Go app is free to download, and customers can use the app to search for a nearby Asda store taking part in the scheme. Users can also select when they wish to pick up their bag and enjoy the contents at discounted prices. Bags from Asda Express, Greggs, Sbarro and Subway will differ in price depending on the contents.
