Workers for the supermarket chain demonstrated outside the store today to demand that bosses pay store colleagues, who are mostly woman, and warehouse workers, who are mostly men, equally.
Asda workers from across Scotland have gathered in Glasgow in a long running dispute over equal pay earlier today.
The news comes after the Supreme Court upheld an earlier tribunal rulings that lower-paid shop staff can compare their roles with distribution workers who are paid around £2 an hour more.READ MORE: Tributes paid to 'amazing friend' after 'unexplained' death in Renfrew "Colleagues are going to food banks, they are having to miss their bills because they don't have the money. There is a strong feeling among workers for this equal pay because many are struggling.
GMB says that Asda is facing the largest ever private sector equal pay claim from 50,000 current and former workers. Around 100 staff turned out for the protest which the union say marks a 'new phase' in the dispute.
