Asda has said children aged 16 and under can access a hot or cold meal for just £1
Supermarket chain Asda has been on the receiving end of glowing praise from shoppers following the announcement of their £1 meal charge.
Many supermarkets and retailers offer similar deals for families throughout the summer, but they usually come with a minimum spend limit before it can be accessed. For example, Morrisons offers kids meals for £1 once adults spend £4.99 or more. Deborah Jayne Law wrote: "Such a disgraceful thing that we should as a nation have to rely on a supermarket to stand up and help fees our children because our government is dragging families into poverty. Without schemes such as this there will be many hungry children this summer Thankyou Asda and all other outlets and establishments for stepping up when our government won't."
