Ashley died after being allegedly chased through her home by a gunman
The boyfriend of Ashley Dale and the man believed to be the intended target of her killers has been "uncooperative" after her death, a jury was told.
This afternoon Paul Greaney, KC, prosecuting, told the jury Harrison stopped using his mobile phone number around 12 hours after Ashley was attacked. The jury was told Witham and Peers had allegedly slashed the tyres of Ashley's car shortly before midnight on August 20, in an attempt to "lure" out whoever was inside her house.
Witham, the jury heard, will claim he did not see or hear Ashley and that her death was an accident. He has pleaded guilty to manslaughter but denies murder. "Ashley was struck by a bullet which passed through her abdomen and caused catastrophic damage. Although injured, Ashley managed to reach the back yard where she collapsed to the floor."
Ashley's own messages revealed how, according to the prosecution, she had "terrible anxiety" about the "heavy beef" between Mr Harrison and Barry, saying to one friend how Barry had "threatened to go to their house".
