The Asian Lantern Festival, which opens on July 5 and will continue through Aug. 25 at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, typically attracts about 150,000 visitors.
CLEVELAND , Ohio — The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo again will light up spectacularly this summer with the return of the popular Asian Lantern Festival.
“Since the inception of Asian Lantern Festival, nearly 1 million visitors have experienced Northeast Ohio’s biggest summer event,” Kelly Manderfield, Cleveland Metroparks chief marketing officer, said in a statement. “Thanks to the support of our incredible community partners, we’re thrilled to offer guests all-new imaginative displays and more ways than ever to experience the festival.”
New this year is Swan Voyage, which allows guests to see the displays from paddleboats on Waterfowl Lake. Tickets for Swan Voyage are $15 and can be purchased at the zoo. The paddleboats carry up to five passengers and are open until dusk each evening of the festival. Live acrobatic performances will be featured every hour and culturally inspired food will be available., allowing runners to wind through the festival’s displays. Pre-registration is $30 and participants receive a T-shirt, finisher’s medal, refreshments and festival admission.
