ASML slides as Q1 sales, net bookings fall short of expectations

Shares of ASML Holdings fell nearly 5% in European trading Wednesday after the company reported worse-than-expected sales for the fiscal Q1 2024.

Notably, net bookings for ASML’s equipment, a key indicator of future revenue, stood at 3.61 billion euros for the first quarter, marking a 4% decrease year-over-year and a substantial drop from the previous quarter, significantly missing the consensus estimate of 4.63 billion euros. “Our outlook for the full year 2024 is unchanged, with the second half of the year expected to be stronger than the first half, in line with the industry’s continued recovery from the downturn,” said Peter Wennink, CEO of ASML.
