Aston Villa are seriously considering bringing Carney Chukwuemeka back to the club from Chelsea during the January transfer window.
Aston Villa are very interested in bringing Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka back to the club. The Blues are willing to listen to offers for the 21-year-old, who they value at around £40million. It is believed Villa will not match that valuation, but are assessing Chukwuemeka as a concrete January target. He has not made the matchday squad for any of the Blues’ 19 Premier League games this term with Enzo Maresca’s side in title contention.
Chukwuemeka has started just one game in five total appearances in the 2024-25 campaign, a 67-minute outing in the 3-1 win over Astana in Kazakhstan earlier this month. He has played 32 times in total for Chelsea since making the move to Stamford Bridge, scoring two and notching one assist. The Austria-born England youth international is under contract with the London side until June 2028. Chukwuemeka joined Aston Villa’s academy from Northampton in 2016 and signed his first professional deal in 2020.Aston Villa could add reinforcements to their squad in the January window with their Champions League adventure set to continue into the knockout stages. Unai Emery’s side sit fifth in the league phase of the competition and occupy ninth spot in the Premier League after 19 games
