The S&P 500 managed to end its final session of October on a positive note, but the 0.7 per cent gain was no near enough to offset losses for the month. In October, the Dow and the S&P 500 fell 1.4 per cent and 2.2 per cent, respectively. The losses mark the first three-month losing streak for both indexes since March 2020. The tech-heavy Nasdaq declined 2.8 per cent in October, also notching its third consecutive negative month. ASX futures were up 35 points or 0.
BHP will host its annual meeting at 10am in Adelaide. The main focus is on a pending policy decision and any potential guidance from the US Federal Reserve. Policymakers are expected to keep interest rates steady at the end of their meeting with a statement expected at 5am on Thursday AEDT. Chairman Jerome Powell will host a press conference starting half an hour later. Stocks in focus Amcor and Janus Henderson release earnings results.
