Seventy-one-year-old Marissa Teijo , aka Miss Paso del Norte, made history this past weekend in Houston as the oldest contestant in the Miss Texas USA pageant, and she hopes to inspire her audience to “just be confident.” 'Beauty is not just on the outside but it's on the inside also,' the El Paso woman said, as reported by KVIA-TV .
Producer of Netflix 'Selena' series at work on Johnny Canales documentary Teijo was apprehensive about joining the pageant at first, according to ABC News. But 'I began to realize I could do it and inspire older ladies and young ones too that there is beauty at any age if you lead a healthy and active lifestyle. So, that became my goal instead of just striving to win.
