The Leeds drama followed a family who'd just won the lottery
The ITV series began in January 2000 and told the story of a Leeds family who went from a normal working class family to millionaires. Their life turned upside down when mum of the family, Alison Braithwaite, won a whopping £38 million.
Alison Braithwaite - Amanda Redman Alison was the matriarch of the family, in the very first episode she was seen struggling to keep her family together. Mrs Braithwaite initially tried to keep quiet about her £38million win, but her secret was soon rumbled when one her relatives found out about her windfall.
David Braithwaite - Peter Davison 71-year-old Peter Davison played the father of the Braithwaite family. His character was having an affair with Elaine, his secretary when the series began. He soon realised the error of his ways when he discovered the wife, was secretly loaded. The 46-year-old also starred in Channel 4's Utopia in 2013 as well as landing roles in Doctors and Holby City. She also appeared in a stage adaptation of the popular book The Story of Tracy Beaker by Jacqueline Wilson called Tracy Beaker Gets Real.
