Lebanon’s National News Agency said that the 4am attack resulted in a large number of fatalities and injuries and destroyed an eight-storey building.
Footage has showed at least one totally destroyed building and several others badly damaged around it. It marked the fourth Israeli airstrike this week targeting a central area of Beirut, where the bulk of Israel’s attacks have targeted the Hezbollah-controlled southern suburbs. Four Italian peacekeepers were slightly wounded when a rocket, possibly fired by Hezbollah, hit their base, the UN said.
