Nearly 1,000 families from Pola, Oriental Mindoro who were affected by fishing ban due to an oil spill from the sunken M/T Princess Empress received P20,054 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)on Saturday, April 15. ManilaBulletin
"The cash assistance is composed of the Emergency Cash Transfers and food and cash assistance/other support services under the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations ," the agency said.The Department of Labor and Employment, under its Integrated Livelihood Program, also donated P10.3 million worth of livelihood grants to 391 beneficiaries and P102 million worth of financial assistance under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers program.
"Livelihood kits worth PhP10,000 were also distributed per beneficiary under the Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa Program of the Department of Trade and Industry and loan approval for micro, small and medium enterprises worth PhP5.3 million from Small Business Corporation ," DSWD added. As of writing, DSWD said that it has already given P223 million worth of food and non-food items and cash to the distressed families in Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, Antique, and Palawan.
