The crashes on Interstate 55 in south-central Illinois late on Monday morning involved between 40 and 60 cars and multiple trucks, Illinois State Police Major Ryan Starrick said."The cause of the crashes is due to excessive winds blowing dirt from farm fields across the highway, leading to zero visibility," Major Starrick said at a news conference.
