Ruck marches throughout May are helping raise money for 22Mohawks, a national organization working to fight veteran and first responder suicidesPublished: May. 28, 2024 at 11:26 PM AKDTANCHORAGE, Alaska - For U.S. Army veteran Kurt Komyati, the idea to do a ruck march — and help raise awareness of self-harm suffered by America’s veterans — has now grown into a multi-week series of fundraising events, the last of which is welcoming members of the public to Peters Creek on Friday.
“So, anyone can walk and carry whatever weight,” he explained, “no weight, whatever pace, it doesn’t matter; we just want people to come out, and enjoy being outside while the weather is nice, and get some fresh air, get some exercise, and raise awareness for the cause.” “The ultimate goal of this whole march is just, have people be aware,” Komyati said. “There are organizations to help anyone in need. There’s solutions. And there’s many people that are willing to help.”
