On Wednesday at 2 p.m., the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, hosted a press event in San Antonio after a series of raids Tuesday yielded several suspects, stolen firearms, and illegal machine guns.A total of 12 people were arrested on various federal firearms charges, ranging from possessing stolen firearms to illegally dealing in firearms without a Federal Firearms License, to possessing illegal machine guns and machine gun auto-sears, or “conversion kits.
The arrests were conducted across 14 different raids across the state, in an area spanning from San Antonio to McAllen. ATF officials also confirmed the fatal shooting of a suspect during a knock-and-announce raid on Tuesday, which involved ATF officials, was connected to Operation Texas Kill Switch, but would not comment any further, and the investigation is pending.The people arrested are facing charges with penalties ranging from 5 years in prison to between 10 and 15 years in prison.
