MLK Park in downtown Rochester Monday, June 24, 2024, where a mass shooting took place the day prior, wounding six people. Rochester , N.Y. — The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is asking for the community's help with finding the suspect from the mass shooting in Rochester 's downtown area over the weekend.
ATF, in collaboration with the Rochester Police Department, Crime Stoppers and other community partners, is offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest/conviction of the shooter from the incident, which left six people wounded early Sunday morning. Additionally, 33-year-old Joshua Sanchez was arrested for allegedly fighting and injuring an officer who responded to the park. All victims from the incident are expected to survive.The shooting prompted actions from Mayor Malik Evans, who made the decision to close the park three hours early everyday at 8 p.m. There will also be stationed police officers until further notice.
