Five months after a deadly crash at St. David’s North, Austin City Council is making changes to ensure something like that doesn’t happen again.
The Republican National Convention wraps up Thursday night with Donald Trump expected to make his first public comments since being shot. They’re amending the land development code to make entrances around hospitals safer. A resolution approved today will require safety barriers near entrances of medical facilities .
Austin Police say Michelle Holloway lost control of her car, crashing into the lobby of the hotel, killing herself and injuring five others. The council-approved resolution says the barriers must be installed near the entrances of medical facilities with vehicle traffic nearby. “We really want our medics to have that safe working environment. And I think this does that. And I’m incredibly grateful to mayor and council for taking this initiative up,” he said.
