Legendary director Francis Ford Coppola closed a decades-in-the-making chapter of his long career on Thursday as his passion project 'Megalopolis,' an epic science-fiction tale drawn from Roman history, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
Director Francis Ford Coppola called Aubrey Plaza his 'Golden Woman' on the set of Megalopolis, the controversial film which has got the whole of Cannes talking.
But during the 77th annual film festival, Aubrey revealed just how committed to the movie and director she was after Francis spent decades developing, and funding it with $120 million of his own fortune Though reports suggest that another co-star, Shia LaBeouf, felt otherwise. A making-of documentary is on the way from Brit Mike Figgis.
Cannes is the world's biggest film festival, first conceived in 1939 as an alternative to the then-fascist-influenced Venice Film Festival. It has been held annually since 1946 except in 1948 and 1950, when it was cancelled due to lack of funds.
