Amazingly they escaped without major injury
A driver of an Audi car and the passengers inside have somehow managed to escape unscathed after the vehicle was completely destroyed by a fire.
Police have shared a shocking photograph of the car, which went up in flames on the M62 this afternoon. Emergency services rushed to the motorway, between junctions 22 and 21 near Rochdale, when the blaze broke out at around 3pm.Two of the three lanes were closed and traffic built up in the surrounding area as police urged motorists to approach with caution. Thankfully, those inside the vehicle escaped without injury and the road has since been fully reopened.
Officers from North West Motorway Police shared an image of the damaged car on social media which showcased the extent of the damage. They wrote: "All lanes now running on M62 between j22 and j21, sadly for the owner this is what is left of his Audi, but thankfully all occupants are safe and uninjured."
