The property is on the north side of Prairie Street, west of North Kingsway Drive. It is on property once owned by the West Aurora School District where a middle school would have been built.
An Aurora City Council committee on Wednesday approved final plans for the 74-home Prairie Meadows subdivision on the far West Side.
Lennar Homes, one of the largest national homebuilders, already has a development in Aurora, Liberty Meadows. It also has developments in Elburn, Oswego, Batavia and two in Yorkville. When the City Council approved the preliminary plans late last year, some neighbors were concerned about the effect the development would have on flooding, because of wetland on the property.
“The neighbors are happy about saving the trees, and that the wetland there will not be disturbed,” said Ald. Carl Franco, 5th Ward, a committee member. The development is in the 5th Ward.
