The safety car was deployed on lap two when Dale Coyne Racing teammates Sting Ray Robb and David Malukas came together, resulting in damage to both cars. O'Ward was the biggest benefactor in the second round of pit stops, pulling off an effective undercut to go to the lead of the race. However, Palou and Lundgaard dispatched him with relative ease shortly thereafter.Palou controlled the final stanza of the race and was unchallenged while Lundgaard faded as the race wore on.
