Australia's Olympic preparations have been plunged into chaos as transport issues sent one team to the wrong venue and forced others to cram their way into overcrowded buses.

Australian Olympic hockey team sent to wrong venue, athletes crammed into buses as organisers scramble to rein in transport chaos

Chef de mission Anna Meares has issued a please explain to the Paris Organising Committee over the debacle that saw the men’s hockey team mistakenly taken to the rugby stadium and members of the swimming team forced to sit on the floor of a bus with no air-conditioning. She said a lack of buses had also meant athletes had been forced to wait for too long and had then had to crowd into buses to get to their venues.“There were a number of athletes waiting in the queue at the transport hall at the village to get out to the venues.

“So we’re really pressing for the Paris Organising Committee to find a resolution. The good thing is that everything we have raised with them so far they’ve been very quick to act and we will continue to raise it should this not shift.”
