Boxing: Aussie boxing superstar Sam Goodman stopped by Adelaide Oval to bat against Australian cricket legend Brett Lee in the nets.

Goodman takes on Binga in the nets | 00:47Sam Goodman’s mates are already looking to collect over $70,000 on what would be the biggest upset in Australian boxing history – and despite the majority of domestic money being wagered on Japanese megastar Naoya Inoue.

The former Illawarra Steelers barman already has over 80 supporters confirmed for the trip, with suggestions the number could still swell into triple figures by the time all four of Inoue’s belts go on the line. And while a crew of those same supporters have already loaded up on Goodman’s long odds, a TAB spokesperson confirmed that, domestically, 89 per cent of the pool is still running for the undefeated Japanese champ.

While himself a keen punter, Goodman says he prefers not to talk about betting on his own fights – or even what odds he might be paying with bookies. Sam Goodman celebrates defeating Ra’eese Aleem during the IBF Super-Bantamweight world title eliminator bout at Gold Coast Convention and Entertainment Centre on June 18, 2023 in Gold Coast, Australia. While the TAB money may be running heavily for Inoue, Goodman is ready to go shock the world after a long run of intense sparring with a group including Australia’s Moloney twins, Jason and Andrew, at his gym, Complete Boxing.

“The Moloney boys are great work,” he said. “We’ve had a group of boys in this camp, real high level stuff, that’s put me in real good stead for this fight.” Andrew, meanwhile, is also hoping a win over Thailand’s Jakrawut Majungoen in Melbourne this Friday night could pitch him straight into an IBF super flyweight world title eliminator – with that vacant crown set to be fought for days later by Willibaldo Garcia and Rene Calixto Bibiano.
