the building walls are now safe. According to Bat World Sanctuary, members of Austin Bat Refuge saw the outcry on Facebook and immediately went to the apartment complex to come to the rescue. Officials with Austin Bat Refuge said that a member of their team went to the complex and "began removing the dried spray foam" from the bat exits. They were immediately told to stop what they were doing by the complex's maintenance crew. After speaking with the apartment manager, Austin Bat Refuge member was allowed to remove all the spray foam from the exits. He then was told to come back Monday with a liability insurance certificate and install exclusion tubes.
Bats are protected under the U.S. Endangered Species Act and "may not be hunted, killed, possessed, purchased or sold." However, bats may be moved, trapped or killed if they are inside a building occupied by people, according to the
