Melinda French Gates gives multimillion-dollar grant to Austin nonprofit The 19th, part of her $1B donation for women's rights groups.

French Gates says she will be donating $1 billion over the next two years to individuals and organizations working on behalf of women and families globally, including on reproductive rights in the United States.
The grant to The 19th, which launched in 2020 with early backing from French Gates' Pivotal Ventures, will bolster its 2024 election coverage and allow investments to grow its audience. "It's a tribute to the devoted and tireless work of The 19th's team," the nonprofit said of the funding. "We are beyond grateful for French Gates' confidence in our team and our mission."
