Australia has joined calls for a humanitarian pause on fighting in Gaza. It’s caused some level of conflict between Australia and the Israeli government.

And whilst the government still supports Israel's right to defend itself, Ms Wong has emphasised that the way it does so matters, and that it doesn't have carte blanche to do anything it likes. "In accordance to our information and my knowledge, the humanitarian situation is fair. And, once again, in recent days, we allowed the passing of around thirty trucks from the Rafah passage, from Egypt, to the Gaza Strip."It claims that, before the blockade, around 465 trucks per day of supplies were needed for Gaza.
He says the Israeli ambassador's attitude is inhumane - and part of a long-standing attitude of this type from his country. "Israel is the occupying power. Under international law, as an occupying power, it has sole responsibility for the people it occupies. Every Palestinian death at the end of Israeli armaments are absolutely the responsibility of the Israeli government."Defence Minister Richard Marles says Australia is deploying two Defence Force aircraft to the region in case the situation deteriorates further.
