THE AUSTRALIAN Navy has started evacuating thousands of people from a seaside town on the Victoria coast that has been cut off for days by raging wildfires.
Shocking images earlier showed 4,000 trippers and locals cowering under a blood red sky in Mallacoota near the shoreline after the town was evacuated.One of the largest evacuations in Australia's history is underway today ahead of scorching hot weather and strong winds that are forecast to worsen devastating wildfires raging across the country.

He said: "We know people have got a little bit of fire fatigue. They've been dealing with this now for months. He told the Australian Broadcasting Corp: "We are going to face a worse day on Saturday than what we have been through."Millions of animals are feared to have died, including 8,000 koalas.
